Arkansan hopes to sail around the world in 2026 Golden Globe Race

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Sailing 30,000 miles around the world nonstop and alone, along with no outside assistance is a dream race for one Arkansan.

Olivia Wyatt is from Little Rock and has her sights set on the 2026 Golden Globe Race beginning in France.

Wyatt said although she grew up in Arkansas, she always loved the ocean and that is exactly where she finds herself now.

“Because I’m from the landlocked State of Arkansas and didn’t grow up sailing, as soon as I met the ocean it was hard to get me out of it,” Wyatt said.

She said she began sailing in 2019 and after that she couldn’t stop.

“I sailed from San Diego to Hawaii alone,” she said.

Wyatt said her boat’s name is Juniper and after sailing around multiple countries she’s taking on a new challenge starting in France.

“I know that I’m being guided to do it,” she said.

The 2026 Golden Globe race is also known as the Voyage of Madmen because it would have to be done solo and nonstop without modern technology like computers and satellite-based navigation aids.
