Legislative audit into purchase of lectern by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office delayed at least a month

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A joint legislative audit meeting Thursday left Arkansas with a lack of answers regarding the purchase of a lectern by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office last year.

The governor’s office has faced scrutiny for a few months over the $19,000 purchase, and auditors said back in October there would be a full report at the first of the year.

Now auditors are saying that their report won’t be ready until next month, and the next meeting isn’t until May.

The controversy over the lectern started right after the special session wrapped up a few months ago when the purchase became public on social media in documents showing the governor’s office used tax dollars to buy the stand.

After that revelation, the Republican Party of Arkansas then came into the picture and reimbursed the purchase.

Still, there are questions about that original receipt.
