Friday, February 9: Cooling down after today with snow Sunday night

After yesterday’s high winds and climbing temperatures, we’ve got just one more warm day on the shelf and we’re bringing it out today. This afternoon will be in the upper 60s across the south and near 70 across central Missouri. High cloudiness will be in play across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas with mostly sunny skies across central Missouri.

Tonight will see clouds increase with a slight chance for isolated showers and a few thunderstorms after dark mainly east of Highway 65. Some storms may be capable of producing small hail and some lightning.

A cold front Saturday morning will keep us on the cooler side Saturday afternoon. Still mild, but temperatures will land in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees under a band of high cloud cover.

Sunday will be mostly dry across the area during the daytime and chilly in the mid-40s, but our next chance for rain and even snow arrives from the south-southwest Sunday afternoon. Superbowl plans along and south of I-44 should definitely have a plan B to be indoors Sunday during game-time that evening.
