A few thunderstorms are likely Friday evening through the early hours of Saturday morning. It’s possible that a few of the storms could become strong to severe.
Remember, severe thunderstorms are storms that cause damage. Damage that could be caused by large hail, strong wind gusts, or tornadoes. All three of those will be possible on Friday night, but the risk is very low.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 1 very low risk for severe thunderstorms over most of Arkansas.
The risk is very low, but you should still be weather aware if you are included in the risk area. Being weather aware means you have a way to receive tornado warnings even if you are sleeping. It also means if you do get a warning you already have a plan in place to get to your tornado safe place. Again, with a very low risk, we might not see any severe storms at all, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Below is the latest timing of the storms.
The window for severe weather will be between 4PM on Friday and 8AM on Saturday. The rain and thunderstorms that continue on Saturday will not be severe.
