LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With Fat Tuesday upcoming, the Natural State let the good times roll Saturday with the SoMardi Gras parade.
The theme of this year’s parade was “Under the Sea” and the wet weather did not dampen the spirit of the annual parade. The 14th annual celebration kicked off two hours early to beat the heaviest rain.

Parade goer Jim Wilson said that though the weather wasn’t favorable for the festivities, it could have been worse.
“We’re close to a building so we can jump under an awning, but otherwise it’s better than being freezing or snowing,” Wilson said.
Floats were judged for their creativity with the winners receiving a cash prize.
The parade is the biggest fundraiser of the year for SoMa 501, which promotes economic development and community programs in Little Rock’s South Main neighborhood.
