LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A group of Arkansans is working to get an abortion amendment on the November ballots in the state, but not without some pushback from another group.
Rose Mimms with Arkansas Right to Life told FOX 16 News the group Arkansans for Common Sense has formed to educate people on the pro-life movement and ask them not to sign the petition.

The measure would enshrine abortion access into the state constitution and keep any laws from being passed to restrict abortion in cases of rape, incest, a fatal fetal anomaly or to protect the life or well-being of the mother within the first 18 weeks after conception.
“It’s really important that people do know what this means for Arkansas,” Mimms said. “It doesn’t make sense to do this in Arkansas.”
Democratic State Rep. Denise Garner said the focus on the pro-choice side is also educating, but on the current trigger law and what the near-total abortion ban — except to save the life of the mother — really means.
