Jerry and Madelyn Adams, a Conway couple, have donated $30,000 to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock). Their donation will establish an endowed scholarship for computer science majors. The Jerry and Madelyn Adams Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship will cover education costs like tuition, books, fees, and housing. It will be awarded to a computer science major with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, based on financial need or merit.
Jerry Adams is a member of the advisory board for the Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. He expressed optimism about the university’s future, citing recent innovations like the new cybersecurity major and a partnership with the Arkansas Center for Data Sciences. This partnership will provide scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, and workforce development for computer science students.
The Adams’ donation is part of the Centennial Campaign, UA Little Rock’s biggest fundraising effort. The university aims to raise $250 million by 2027, its 100th anniversary. Jerry Adams stressed the importance of education in the modern economy, highlighting the need for technology understanding and computer skills.
