Modesti’s mother, Nura Salaam, reflects on the day her daughter died.

“I just screamed. I said what has happened to my baby, and they told me she was gone,” Salaam said. “That was the worst feeling I’ve ever had, I don’t wish that on nobody.”

Salaam said her daughter was the life of the party, a social butterfly, and was just getting started at 20 years old. She always showed love and kindness.

“She was always going mommy I love you; I love you so much mama,” Salaam said.
