Arkansas state trooper resigns after DWI arrest

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas state trooper has resigned from his position after being arrested for driving while intoxicated on the evening of June 27. 31-year-old Mitch Smothers was charged with DWI and endangering the welfare of a minor due to two children being in the vehicle with him after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle rollover wreck on Winn Creek Road.
