LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Lawmakers are continuing to discuss recommendations on potential changes to gun laws in Arkansas.
In Monday’s Arkansas Legislative Council-Game & Fish/State Police committee meeting, legislators focused on gun laws as part of a year-long study that’s been conducted in the state.

Discussion at the meeting centered around multiple topics, including clarifying the word “journey” in laws that give a person the right to carry a handgun after leaving their home either on foot, bicycle or vehicle.
Lawmakers are also looking to remove the word “enhanced” in reference to the state’s concealed carry license. They have not yet settled on which version of the rules will accompany that change.
Discussion also focused on conflicting state and federal laws regarding the age requirement for concealed carry, with federal law being age 21 and state being 18.
