LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After the March 31 tornado that devastated Little Rock last year, some businesses like Purple Cow are finally reopening, but some homeowners are still trying to rebuild.
Homeowner Zelenda Owens said she has been living with her niece since the tornado touched down on March 31, 2023. Owens said she grateful, but ready to return home.
“Wanting to be back in your own space. And a year and a half is a long time,” Owens said.
Construction begins on new North Little Rock Central Fire Station
Six minutes down the road, the original Purple Cow is now restored and welcoming guests, the first time the restaurant has opened its doors since the tornado left it demolished.
While its walls are standing and other homes in the neighborhood are on their way too, Owens is staying optimistic about her own home’s restoration.
“I think it’s fabulous,” Owens said. “I’m not jealous of those who are back in because I’m going to be back in soon.”
