City officials say Little Rock crime rates have gone down

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock city officials are celebrating a decrease in crime rates this year.

According to city officials and authorities, the overall crime is down 4% in Little Rock so far this year.

In a press conference at city hall, Mayor Frank Scott Jr. credited the city’s investment in the police department and the people of Little Rock.

“We need to continue to have the help of our residents,” Scott said.

The police chief said homicides are down 28% compared to last year and robberies are down 7%.

The mayor thanked those who have registered their security cameras in the new initiative called Eyes on the Rock, which allows the real-time crime center to access home security cameras.

“We’ve seen huge success. We want to see more. So that means we want more residents and businesses to sign up,” Scott said.

Little Rock police chief Heath Helton said the only crime category that has increased this year is burglary, specifically car break-ins.
