Lawsuit filed after January fight outside Malys Entertainment in Conway

CONWAY, Ark. – A January fight has led to a lawsuit being filed in Faulkner County Circuit Court asking for damages.

The suit alleges that the four Black teens were outside a Conway entertainment venue when a group of white adults attacked them while shouting racial slurs. The attack in the parking lot of Malys Entertainment was captured on video and led to a police investigation.

The subsequent investigation by Conway Police Department named five people from Cleburne County who allegedly participated in the brawl: Kellie Kennedy, Cody Sutherland, Micheal Kennedy, Stephanie Hartwick and Chuckie Hartwick.

The same five are named as defendants in the lawsuit for allegedly assaulting and battering the four teens, alongside Malys Entertainment and “John and Jane Does 1—10.”

The suit asks for a jury trial for unspecified damages. It claims Malys was negligent due to a lack of security to prevent the fight and for serving alcohol to obviously drunk people. It also states that the five defendants “willfully and wantonly engaged in extreme and outrageous conduct.”
