STUTTGART, Ark. – A recent bout of rain in Arkansas has been a boon for hunters.
The sound of quacking is an alarm for those who enjoy hunting duck and geese, and luckily this season has been good because the rain has brought in a surplus of waterfowl benefiting those who’ve traveled miles to hunt, like Austin Bratcher.
“This is probably close to one of the best seasons I’ve experienced here since coming in the last four years,” Bratcher said.

Mack’s Prairie Wings is where many hunters gather for equipment, and the co-owner Chuck Lock is calling this their peak season thanks to the rain.
“These past couple of rains have helped out we’ve got some public water to hunt right now which helps out,” Lock said.
And with more than 100 thousand people traveling to Arkansas each year for the season, the overflow of water will allow everyone an opportunity to harvest.
“All the water you see out here in these fields you kind of depend on it to keep the hunting going,” Bratcher said.
