FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas was one of the most popular states for movers in 2024, according to a new study.
U-Haul recently released its annual Growth Index which named the Natural State as the 12th most popular for people to relocate last year.
The index calculates the difference between the number of one-way U-Haul trucks entering and leaving a state in a given year.
“Migration to the Southeast and Southwest continues as families gauge their cost of living, job opportunities, quality of life and other factors that go into relocating to a new state, John “J.T.” Taylor, U-Haul International president said.

Arkansas jumped five spots from 17th to 12th in the previous year. The Natural State had the biggest rise from 2022 to 2023 jumping from 43rd to 17th.
South Carolina jumped to the top of the rankings, dethroning Texas, which had been No. 1 from 2021 to 2023.
Texas dropped to second in the rankings. North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee rounded out the top five.
