As state lawmakers head back to work in the new year, those in Arkansas may be discussing issues of daylight … saving time, that is. As the Arkansas Legislature gets ready to begin its new session, Republican state representative Stephen Meeks wants to make changes to daylight saving time. Meeks will be introducing House Bill 1069 which would put Arkansas on standard time year round. The Greenbrier representative cites the negative impacts of the twice-yearly time change as the reason for his legislation. Meeks says there are negative economic impacts from the time change such as lost work or productivity. Currently, Arizona and Hawaii are the only two states that do not observe daylight saving time.
