A Tornado Watch is in Effect Until 6pm CST

01/05/25 11:51am

Good late morning everyone. As forecasted and discussed, we are begining to see heavy showers & thunderstorms developing across parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

In fact, we’ve already seen instances of severe weather in extreme northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas. Thunderstorms in this areas have had a history of damaging winds in excess of 60mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. We also recently had a tornado warning at the time of this article in Emmet, AK for radar-indicated rotation embedded within a wider line of strong ot severe thunderstorms.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch across eastern Texas, a large chuck of central & western Louisiana, and lower Arkansas until 6pm EST at its eastermost edge. Expect new severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches to be issued/expanded as low pressure becomes more organized and that frontal system becomes more defined.
