Arkansas police arrest 72-year-old man for negligent homicide in disabled daughter’s death

LOWELL, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Lowell police have arrested a 72-year-old man on Jan. 3 in connection to the death of his adopted daughter at a Concord Street residence.

David Whitten, 72, faces a negligent homicide charge and six counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.

Lowell Police Department (LPD) and Lowell Fire Department personnel responded to a medical call at the home on the morning of Jan. 3, according to a news release .

Court documents say there were six disabled adults living in the house.

Upon arrival, emergency responders pronounced one of the disabled adults, Caterina Whitten, dead at the scene.

Court documents say David Whitten had adopted all six of the adults who were deemed incompetent.

Court documents say part of the house was flooded and only had one working toilet which appeared to be filthy.

According to court documents, multiple adult diapers full of feces were lying throughout the house on the floor along with trash, dog feces, and cockroaches. Dirty dishes with mold were found in the kitchen. One of the adopted adults wore nothing but an adult diaper which appeared to be full of feces.
