LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With low temperatures and the potential for ice and snow, Arkansans are going to the grocery store to stock up on essentials.

Drug Emporium manager Rick Case said they moved mostly everything shoppers would need for the winter weather in front of the store. He also said they’ve been seeing more people come to the door all week.

“We’re definitely seeing extra traffic here for sure,” Case said.

Some shoppers say they’re buying what they need just in case the weather is more than they expect.

One shopper says, “this is Arkansas and you never know what’s going to happen.” While another shopper states they’re buying, “bread, meat, milk and eggs because if you have your basic items, you can have a whole meal.”

Cashier Lynette Paraham said based on the customers she’s checked out they’ve been getting a variety of items.

“They’re coming in buying all the eggs, the milk, butter, cereal, candy, or ice cream,” Paraham said.
