SHREVEPORT, La. – Many in the ArkLaTex are waking up to frigid temperatures once again Friday and in the northern areas, they’re met with snow, icy, and freezing rain. From southeast Oklahoma, into southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas, measurable amounts of snow, sleet, and ice have been reported since the system moved in Thursday morning. Anywhere from one third of an inch to a couple of inches have been reported.
The winter weather advisory has been extended into Nacogdoches and Shelby counties in east Texas through Friday morning, as temperatures continue to hover near freezing across those areas. Otherwise, the winter storm warning and winter weather advisory remain in place across the previous locations.
One death has been reported in Louisiana due to the weather. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, a 65-year-old man died in Rapides Parish from hypothermia.
Driving in this weather can be very dangerous. Motorists are urged to stay off the roads if at all possible. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous…
