LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), one of America’s largest Muslim civil rights advocacy groups, announced today that they are challenging the legality of the Arkansas Department of Corrections’ Ramadan food policy.
During the month of Ramadan, which this year stretches from February 28 to March 9, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
Advocates with CAIR say that in the past few years, the Arkansas Department of Corrections stopped providing additional food portions to incarcerees celebrating Ramadan for their after-sunset meal (known as iftar)…
