Arkansas Auto Dealership Wins $18M Lawsuit Against Ford

Little Rock’s Auto Dealership Partners, LLC (ADP), co-owned by Larry Crain Jr. and Heath Campbell, has won an $18 million judgment against Ford Motor Company following a five-day trial in Pulaski County Circuit Court, according to a press release from the law office of James, House, Swann & Downing, P.A. Judge Timothy Davis Fox ruled in favor of ADP, awarding a total of $18 million in damages–$16 million, of which, were for punitive damages–after finding that Ford wrongfully interfered with a contractual agreement and engaged in fraudulent conduct.

The case centered on Ford’s misuse of its right of first refusal, which ADP argued unfairly blocked its acquisition of a Ford dealership and resulted in financial losses. The court determined that Ford deliberately misled ADP while securing an alternate deal that benefited another party, forcing ADP to pay an additional $2 million in an altered transaction.

“This verdict upholds the principles of fairness in the automotive industry and ensures that manufacturers cannot manipulate transactions to the detriment of dealers,” said Crain. “We appreciate the court’s careful review of the evidence and its decision to hold Ford accountable for its actions.
