Ten homes damaged by fires in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Wednesday’s weather contributed to at least a dozen structures, including 10 homes, being damaged by fires in Little Rock. City leaders said at least five are uninhabitable.

The 10 homes damaged were four on Chaucer Lane, one on Winchester Drive, one on Purdue Circle, two on Booker Street, and two on Clement Drive. Not all were complete losses. The two other structures were a vacant apartment building on South Louisiana and the roof of the Goodwill building on South Hamilton.

Flames forced James Harris and his neighbors on Chaucer Lane to evacuate their homes Wednesday. On Thursday, four of his neighbors had no homes to return to only a few possessions to sift through.

“It was chaos,” Harris recalled. “It was dark, smokey. It was unbelievable.”…
