Decorative Items
The bathroom countertop isn’t where you should be looking to express your personal style.
“Adding decorative items might seem like a good idea, but it only contributes to visual clutter, ultimately diminishing your precious usable space,” says Megan Ludvinsky, the founder of About Space Organizing in Little Rock, Arkansas. Plus, she adds, any items you do keep out may be at risk of getting damaged from water and other products.
Nonessential Items
On a similar note, do not use up valuable countertop space by setting out items you rarely reach for, adds Julie Peak.
“When a bathroom countertop is decluttered and contains only essential items, there’s no need to sift through unnecessary products to find what you need helping to speed up your daily routines,” says the founder of The Precise Place in Charlotte, North Carolina.
