Study: Arkansas homebuyers need this much income to afford a ‘typical’ home

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Buying a home in 2025 can be challenging and since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has only gotten more expensive.

A new study from Bankrate looked at how much it would cost to buy a home in 2025 in each state compared to how much it cost in 2020.

In 2025, the average annual household income needed to afford a “typical” home is $116,986 , a nearly 50 percent increase since early 2020, when the income needed to buy a typical home was $78,236 .
