Arkansas National Guard mobilizes for flood response

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas National Guard has mobilized troops in anticipation of heavy rains and flooding due the first week of April.

Officials said Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders mobilized more than 40 Guardsmen in northeast Arkansas to assist local authorities with any evacuations.

The guardsmen are organized into teams. Each high-water team has three light-medium tactical vehicles (LMTV), a four-wheel-drive 2.5-ton cargo and troop transporter vehicle, a Humvee and nine Guardsmen. Each LMTV can carry up to 16 passengers in the cargo compartment.
