Former PJ’s Coffee assistant manager arrested for alleged rape

EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — Former PJ’s Coffee assistant manager Christopher Curry has been arrested for alleged sexual contact with a juvenile. The El Dorado Police Department was contacted, and investigators opened an investigation into the allegations. They obtained evidence supporting the allegations. A second victim came forward and gave a statement similar to the first victim’s. Investigators sought and were granted an arrest warrant for Curry. On April 2, Curry was taken into custody at his residence for two counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree, and two counts of sexual indecency with a child.

Christopher Curry had his first court appearance on April 4. During this appearance, Curry was notified of the charges against him. He elected to hire his own attorney. Judge Barker set his bond at $1 million. If Curry posts bond, a GPS monitor will be added before his release, and he will be subject to a curfew from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. He must obey a consent-to-search order and is not allowed to possess alcohol, drugs, or firearms at any time. Curry was also given a no-contact order. He is not allowed to have contact with any of the juvenile victims, any children, or Angela Curry. He is also prohibited from entering PJ’s Coffee.

As the owner of the PJ’s franchise in El Dorado, I am deeply troubled by the allegations.  Because this is a former employee that was terminated for unrelated reasons and the allegations did not involve his previous employment with PJ’s, I can only watch along with the El Dorado community to see the facts of the case determined.  Although I do not know the facts of this case, it is unfortunate that in general the victims of abuse are often overlooked and cast aside but it is my hope that they all find peace and hope that justice will be served whatever that may be.
