LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A loose barge has lodged itself against the David D. Terry Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River.
According to a Facebook post from the US Army Corps of Engineers, the barge was found lodged against the dam during an inspection on Tuesday morning.
Corps officials said the dam is operating as intended, but the barge is blocking flow from gate 15 and restricting flow from gate 16.
Officials added that it appears the barge hit the dam with force, possibly causing minor damage. They said there are no signs of structural failure…
