LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In an effort to combat homelessness in central Arkansas, local nonprofit The Van announced Friday its plans for a new emergency shelter.
According to a post on social media , the group has raised over $256,000 for the building and put 10 unrestricted acres outside city limits under contract for the construction of the new facility.
“We put 10 unrestricted acres outside city limits under contract today for the construction of a 15k sq ft permanent winter weather emergency shelter and year-round thrift store / farm stand,” the post said.
