Arkansas advocates urge action as federal funds freeze threatens crucial services

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Survivors of sexual violence and their advocates gathered in Little Rock on Tuesday to protest a federal funding freeze they claim could have devastating consequences.

Members of the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault called for the immediate release of nearly 900 federal grants tied to the Violence Against Women Act.

These grants, managed by the Department of Justice and totaling approximately $684 million, were removed from a government website in February. Advocates warn that if the funding is not restored, critical victim assistance services providing shelter, advocacy, and counseling could be jeopardized…
