LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has announced a temporary change to issuance of duplicate driver’s licenses beginning May 12. If Arkansans need a duplicate (replacement) license starting May 12, it can be ordered online and will be placed in the mail by DFA. This will allow state Revenue Offices to focus on REAL ID, with record numbers issued this week. New, first-time licenses may still be obtained at any Revenue Office. Renewals will also continue normally for licenses and IDs within 90 days of expiration, which has been the renewal policy for years.
DFA is issuing approximately 10,000 REAL IDs a day this week. More than 132,000 were issued between April 1, 2025, and early May.
DFA’s focus this week is ensuring those with immediate travel plans have access to REAL ID. DFA will continue to issue the REAL ID after May 7. Arkansans may obtain a REAL ID at the state’s 134 Revenue Offices…
