Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 24, 2025 – Intermittent rain, sometimes heavy, threatened to washout the Memorial Day holiday weekend across much of Northern Arkansas.
Over 1.25 inches of rain had fallen at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport overnight through 11am Saturday morning. Concerning the possibility of flooding, the National Weather Service in Memphis said, “We are most concerned with the area from Poinsett across Crittenden into Shelby County where over 2 inches fell last night and early this (Saturday) morning.” The NWS issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the area from western Craighead County, including Jonesboro, into the Memphis Metro. Several periods of rain are expected to fall across that same area through Tuesday.
Rain and thunderstorms had occurred around Norfolk Lake and the Mountain Home area overnight and Saturday morning. The Baxter County Airport observation station recorded well over 2 inches of rain through 11am Saturday morning…
