Study ranks Arkansas fourth in nation for fast food spending

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A recent study ranked Arkansas near the top in the nation for spending on fast food.

The consumer finance site WalletHub placed Arkansas fourth out of the 50 states for household spending of monthly income on fast food. The study found Arkansans spend 0.45% of their median monthly household income on fast food.

The study’s authors analyzed the average prices of burgers, pizza and fried chicken sandwiches in each of the 50 states, then compared them to the median household income number to develop a ranking.

The pricing survey showed Arkansas ranked 14th in the average price of a burger, 49th in the average price of an 11- to 12-inch pizza and 41st in the average price of a fried chicken sandwich, resulting in an average fast food cost of $22.20…
