TROUSDALE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A former prison guard has been sentenced to serve his own time behind bars nearly three years after he was caught smuggling drugs into the Trousdale County Turner Correctional Center, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to 15th Judicial District Attorney Jason Lawson, a judge handed down a three-year sentence to 33-year-old Kyle Buss, of Arkansas, after a three-hour sentencing hearing on Friday, June 20.

Officials said Buss was caught attempting to smuggle fentanyl, tobacco and methamphetamine into Trousdale Turner on Aug. 21, 2022. He allegedly taped the drugs inside his pants to get through security checkpoints as he came on shift.
During the sentencing, Lawson reportedly called on several officers who detected the smuggling activity.
