Arkadephia Man Sentenced – 20 Years For Arkansas High Speed Chase

A local Arkadelphia, Arkansas, man will serve two decades in prison after leading Arkansas State Police on a dangerous high-speed pursuit last year.

On June 23, 2025, Christopher Trentell Penny, 29, of Arkadelphia, was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for felony fleeing in a vehicle causing danger. Clark County Circuit Court Judge Blake Batson handed down the sentence following Penny’s conviction.

The charges stem from an August 29, 2024, incident when a State Trooper attempted to stop Penny for a traffic violation on Interstate 30 eastbound near the 76-mile marker south of Caddo Valley. Penny initially pulled into a service station, but sped away as the Trooper exited his vehicle. (See above)

Penny re-entered I-30, reaching speeds over 130 miles per hour. According to police, he drove on the shoulder, weaved between vehicles, and forced multiple drivers off the road during the nine-mile pursuit.

The chase ended when the Trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a stop. Penny was taken into custody without injury and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. No one was hurt during the incident…
