Little Rock man convicted of fentanyl, gun crime in federal court

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Little Rock man was taken into custody on Thursday after a jury in federal court found him guilty of multiple drug and gun charges.

The jury found 41-year-old Montrell Austin of Little Rock guilty of possessing a quarter pound of fentanyl with intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of five guns, along with possessing a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Officials said Austin will be sentenced at a later date.

Austin is facing a 5 to 40-year sentence for the fentanyl possession with delivery intent, officials said. He is also subject to a 10-year penalty enhancement for previous drug convictions. He is also facing a 10-year sentence as a felon in possession of a gun while drug trafficking, to be served consecutively, meaning after serving his other sentences…
