Arkansas man receives maximum sentence for killing child in drunk driving crash

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Alexander Rios-Rodriguez was sentenced to the maximum sentence allowed by Arkansas law on Monday, July 7, after driving drunk in January 2024 and causing a head-on crash that killed a 12-year-old and injured three passengers.

Rios-Rodriguez, who was 27 at the time, was arrested on Jan. 30, 2024, for negligent homicide and three counts of second-degree battery, according to court documents.

Rios-Rodriguez was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of the Fulbright Expressway at 4:35 a.m. when he collided head-on with a ride share vehicle, the deadly crash report said…
