Arkansas National Guard mobilized for state active duty to help search in Texas after deadly floodwaters

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has mobilized the Arkansas National Guard for state active duty to help assist with a search in Texas following the devastating floods.

Twenty-two Arkansas National Guardsmen were deployed around 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, to help Texas officials with transportation during search and rescue in the area of Austin, Texas.

More than 160 people are still missing after deadly floods, Texas governor says

This order comes after central Texas saw deadly floodwaters, claiming the lives of more than 100 people. Among those lost in the flood include 27 campers and counselors at Camp Mystic near Hunt, Texas.

The soldiers consist of pilots and crew chiefs and six maintenance personnel. Two soldiers were ordered to state active duty to serve as liaison officers in Arkansas to coordinate direct support to the deployed soldiers…
