Mayor combats trash issues, blight in Arkansas with new ordinances

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several communities across the Mid-South are turning their attention to trash concerns.

Many people in Memphis are reporting issues with 311 and on-time debris pickup. Just over the bridge in Earle, Arkansas, is a push from city leaders when it comes to fighting blight.

Last month, there was a clean-up campaign in the Crittenden County community. Mayor Jaylen Smith sent more than 100 certified letters to owners of troubled properties that were becoming eyesores in the area.
