Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Tuesday the launch of a toolkit designed to help school districts establish food pantries to combat childhood hunger and reduce food waste.
The School Food Pantry Toolkit, created by the governor’s Faith-Based Initiatives office in partnership with the Arkansas departments of Education and Agriculture, provides step-by-step instructions and resources for schools wanting to set up pantries for students and families.
“Combatting childhood hunger is a top priority for my administration and this toolkit helps Arkansans make a difference in their own communities,” Sanders said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of our faith-based initiatives office, the Department of Education, and the Department of Agriculture for working together to develop this one-of-a-kind toolkit that will not only equip Arkansas’ school districts but can also serve as a blueprint to fight food insecurity everywhere.”…
