What items qualify for tax-free weekend in Arkansas?

ARKANSAS, USA — Arkansas’s tax-free weekend falls on Aug. 2 and 3 this year. Ahead of the school year, the annual Sales Tax Holiday allows Arkansans to purchase certain items without state and local sales or use tax.

According to the Arkansas Department of Finance (DFA), the following items qualify:

  • Clothing and footwear less than $100 per item
  • Clothing accessories and equipment less than $50 per item
  • Example: Jewelry, wallets, cosmetics, etc.
  • School supplies
  • Example: Binders, book bags, pencils, notebooks, markers, paper, etc.
  • School art supplies
  • Example: Sketching and drawing pads, watercolors, glaze, paints, etc.
  • School instructional materials
  • Example: Reference books, reference maps and globes, textbooks, and workbooks
  • Electronic devices commonly used by students
  • Example: Calculators, cell phones, computer monitors, laptop computers, printers, tablets, etc.
