Mexican citizen sentenced to 10 years in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Officials announced Thursday that a Mexican citizen has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Jesus Ignacio Medina-Leyva, 29, of Culiacan, Mexico, received the sentence from United States District Judge Brian S. Miller, officials said.

Federal prosecutors said Medina-Leyva pleaded guilty on April 10, 2025, to conspiracy of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

According to officials, a federal grand jury indicted Medina-Leyva and 31 others on November 2, 2017, following an investigation into a meth trafficking and money laundering operation.
