ARDOT aims to pump the brakes on wrong way drivers with new detection system

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is trying to prevent wrong way crashes. The agency installed a Wrong Way Detection System last year in Little Rock and is working to install them along I-40 between Little Rock and Memphis.

“We’ve been installing those, working our way west to east and then we’ll eventually work our way a little bit on Interstate 55 in West Memphis as well as certain portions of Interstate 55,” Dave Parker, an ARDOT spokesman, told FOX13.

Parker said the number of wrong way crashes on Arkansas interstates prompted ARDOT to install this new system…
