Salt Bowl returns to Benton with limited seating, leaving some fans sidelined

BENTON, Ark. (KATV) — The annual Salt Bowl, a beloved tradition between Benton and Bryant high schools, is returning to its roots this year, moving from the expansive War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock back to Benton’s Panther Stadium. While the change brings the game closer to home for Benton fans, it also means fewer tickets are available, leaving some fans out in the cold.

Angie Robertson, a Bryant fan, expressed her disappointment, saying, “This is a huge game. It’s not like, you know, they’re playing somebody we don’t care about, you know. This is the game.” She added, “I just don’t believe that it’s fair,” after missing out on tickets when they sold out quickly.

Benton Athletic Director Jerry Bridges explained that the decision to move the game was due to safety concerns from previous years. “When the kids run out on that field, I think they’re going to really enjoy the atmosphere that we have created here,” said Bridges. He emphasized the excitement of hosting the game at their “beautiful facility.”…
