Study reveals alarming rise in colorectal cancer among younger adults

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — A recent study by the American Cancer Society has revealed a troubling increase in colorectal cancer cases among younger adults, with approximately one in five new cases now occurring in patients under the age of 55.

Dr. Jason Mizell, a colorectal surgeon with Baptist Health, confirmed the findings, stating, “Unfortunately, they are. And not only are we seeing more cancer in early people, but we’re seeing when those cancers are discovered, they’re found to be a bit more advanced stage.”
