Cooler-than-average temperatures will yet again settle in for the first week of September. Highs across much of the state will top out in the upper 70s to mid-80s with lows dipping into the 60s/50s, making mornings feel refreshing and afternoons pleasantly mild.

This comes right after one of the coolest late August stretches Little Rock has seen in over a century. From August 25–31, the average high could range between 76-78°F, the lowest for that period since 1915. That remarkable run has set the stage, and now another push of cool air will keep the trend going.
Before the recent cooldown, Little Rock was on pace for a top 25 hottest summer on record. The cooler temperatures we have seen since August 25th has allowed Arkansas to slip to 33rd place. It is safe to say, the summer heat we experienced this year just lost its bragging rights…
