CONWAY, Ark. – Nearly 20 years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, Casey and Kristina Buck say the storm that uprooted their lives also set the stage for a brand-new beginning in Arkansas.
The Bucks were living in Metairie, Louisiana, and preparing for their wedding when Katrina approached the Gulf Coast in August 2005.
“I remember thinking it was going to be kind of a big nothing,” Casey recalled. “We just expected it to not do much and then,” he paused with a laugh. “Then it kind of changed.”
