Arkansans face opioid crisis: daily overdose deaths, tough recovery

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — About one Arkansan dies every day from an overdose and more than half of those deaths are related to opioids. Thousands battle addictions every day, but there are many hurdles in their daily lives that are hurting their recovery efforts.

One of those people is Kyle Brewer. His addiction first started in college with being prescribed an opioid after getting his wisdom teeth removed. He began with prescription pills and then moved onto drugs like heroin.

“I had lost everything and found myself in a psychiatric behavioral health unit. It was at that point I was faced with a decision on what I was going to do when I left that hospital.”…
