KATV series explores impact of social media on teens and how Arkansas is fighting back

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The flip-phone generation is now raising the AI generation. Powerful algorithms, advanced chat tools, and anonymous online networks are shaping today’s digital age. Arkansas’ top leaders are treating these challenges as a serious threat to the health and wellbeing of our youth.

According to the Pew Research Center, about half of teens say social media has a negative impact on their generation, and nearly half admit they spend too much time on it. Concerns range from harmful online trends that encourage risky behavior to the misuse of AI in creating unsafe content.

Arkansas’ Attorney General Tim Griffin, the Arkansas State Police, FBI Little Rock, Arkansas nonprofit Into the Light, and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders tell KATV they are working daily to respond.
