Central U.S. Weather Alert: Plains to Mississippi Valley – 2–4 Inches of Rain Possible Sept. 23

St. Louis, MO – Residents across the Central and Southern Plains into the Mississippi Valley should prepare for heavy rain and possible flash flooding on Tuesday, September 23, according to the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center (WPC).

The WPC issued a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall, meaning scattered flash flooding is possible. A mid- to upper-level disturbance is expected to trigger showers and thunderstorms across the region, with rainfall totals projected between 2 to 4 inches, and locally higher amounts in some areas.
